Review of Punjabi Rasoi - Ajax

Review of Punjabi Rasoi - Ajax

It’s been a week since I had Punjabi Rasoi in Ajax, ON. deliver their incredible Vegan North Indian dishes. Their food was so delicious that I’ve been craving it all week long. This week has felt like it’s dragged on and I mostly blame them for that. I’ve been craving their food ever since I had it. Seriously, their food is that good.

Smell Ya Later 2016!

Smell Ya Later 2016!

Each year I write a New Years resolution type post. You can read my previous posts here and here. This year is no different. Despite what everyone has said about 2016, it wasn’t all bad. I mean, it isn’t like the universe imploded and we all died. Of course that could still be a possibility. I’m slightly convinced that David Bowie’s omnipotence was holding the universe together, and it’s only now began to slowly unravel. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess.  All joking aside, this year was did have terrible moments. Which I don’t want to minimize. The terrorist attacks in Brussels, Nice, and Orlando are some of the worst 2016 had to offer. And if 2016 was a terrible year it was because of attacks like those, not because we lost some of our beloved celebrities. Oh, and let’s not forget that 2016 was politically crazy. I’m still dumbfounded that people actually voted for Brexit and Trump will soon be president. Sigh. So why do I say 2016 wasn’t so bad? Click here and find out! There was still a lot to be optimistic about. As 2017 slowly gets it’s legs let’s all collectively say “Smell ya later 2016!” and hope that we get our act together and make 2017 better. (Not at all hard, I know.)

Taste Canada 2016: Overcoming Evil with Good Food

On Monday November 14th, Canada’s best food authors, bloggers, and enthusiasts gathered for the 19th annual Taste Canada Awards in Toronto, On. The energy in the room was electric. You could sense the anticipation building as the nominated were about to find out if their hard work would pay off with a win. Because Taste Canada is the only organization that recognizes Canadian Food Writers, a lot was on the line! It’s an honour to even be nominated, obviously, and so congratulations are in order for all those nominated.

5 Gross Yet Edible Halloween Menu Ideas to Freak Out Your Family

Last year my sister and mother went above and beyond what we normally do for halloween. The holiday fell on a Saturday, which meant we had a whole day to take in everything Halloween has to offer. Did we consume copious amounts of candy? Yup! Did they dress up? Yes, they did. Did I? Nope, not at all, I sorta hate wearing costumes. But to avoid being a Halloween Scrooge I definitely embraced the spirit of the season as I became a mad scientist in the kitchen. With the help of my assistants (Mom and Sister) we turned normal healthy-ish food into gross yet still edible food. Naturally some turned out better than others but they still managed to freak out our family. #missionaccomplished Here are the 5 completely gross yet edible halloween menu ideas we came up with to freak out our family.

Crafting a Nation Review

Crafting a Nation Review

I’ll be upfront and say that I loved Crafting a Nation. This documentary wasn’t what I was expecting when I was scrolling through Netflix looking for something to watch. I thought it was going to be a documentary about beer, instead it focused on the development of the craft beer industry and the craft brewers themselves. It told the stories of the struggles and successes these entrepreneurs have had opening and maintaining their business. I guess this should have been obvious from the title after all the documentary isn’t called Crafting a Well Balanced Beer, but Crafting a Nation.

Whitby's Food Truck Frenzy, 2016

Whitby's Food Truck Frenzy, 2016

May 14th was cold, really cold. Like, finger-numbing-rosie-cheeks-runny-nose kind of cold, which might make you think it would ruin an out door festival. But you’d be wrong, it didn’t. The only thing that could possibly ruin Whitby’s Food Truck Frenzy would be not going or maybe a tornado. But tornado’s have a tendency to ruin everything anyway.

New Year, New Goals, Different Perspective.

New Year, New Goals, Different Perspective.

2015 was a difficult year. The problems began before the year even started. I was working at an independently owned bookstore. They were struggling and eventually let go the store manager the week between Christmas and New Years. Terrible! The writing was on the wall for a long time and despite what others told me I stuck it out until the store went bankrupt three months later.

The Giveaway.

A couple weeks ago I had the privilege meeting two local food bloggers. We decided to go to a local restaurant in Oshawa called Berry Hill for our first get together. It’s a great little place that I really enjoyed. One of my favourite things they offer is their coffee. It's from a local coffee roaster in Pickering, ON.
