Scottish Ale, Oak, and Rum

This past weekend was my birthday. I had 25 of my closes friends and family over to celebrate and served one of my all time favourite home brews. If anyone has had Innis&Gunn before, the flavour profile is similar but with more prevalent rum flavour. It's probably because I soak oak wood chips in rum while they use, from my understanding anyway, old oak rum barrels to age their beer in, thus dispersing the flavour more evenly.

How I got started in Home Brewing

A few years ago I had to do an internship for my degree. I landed a sweet position in Windsor, ON. and met a ton of wonderful people and made a some long lasting friendships. Unfortunately I wasn't able to stay and had to move back to Toronto to finish my degree. However, it was there that I began to really appreciate the varieties of beers that are available, as many of my friends were not just consumers of beer, but beer connoisseurs.
